What I Know To Be True

Reweave or be unraveled. We are living in a way that is killing us—and we keep participating in it while telling ourselves we don't have a choice. The conventional wisdom of entrepreneurship tells you to compartmentalize. It tells you to treat your business as a machine and your life as an afterthought.

People who can feel the unraveling but can't find the exit end up building businesses that extract from them the exact same way the larger system does. But you cannot escape the extraction model by building another machine.

Every choice you make either feeds the web of connection or cuts it. You are not separate from what you're trying to save.

I know this because fifteen years ago, I couldn't afford to believe the conventional wisdom. I needed to work and I needed to be home. I was a newly single mom of three unschooled kids. So I built something that worked for the life I was actually living—and discovered it was more effective that way.

Over the next fifteen years, I've run the marketing strategy for two New York Times bestselling book campaigns and built launch and positioning strategies for coaches, authors, and mission-driven brands. Every single engagement started the same way:

Tell me about your life. Then we'll build the business to hold it.

What I noticed, doing that work over and over: most of the people I worked with had never been asked that question. They'd spent years trying to fit their lives around a model that was never built to hold them. Smart, values-driven, with something real to offer — spending enormous energy in a version of entrepreneurship that deferred the actual life until the business was finally where it needed to be.

But that "someday" life never actually arrives. Not that way. I have fifteen years of evidence.

At some point, I had to reckon with the fact that I'd been handing this knowledge out in pieces — client by client, launch by launch — while continuing to work more than I wanted to. The thing I'd been teaching other people to build, I hadn't fully built for myself.

The Luminous Studio is me building it. And it's the room where I teach it directly.

Together we’ll follow the threads that have been quietly weaving through your work, your life, and your deepest curiosities—until a clearer path begins to emerge.

The Premise Is Wrong

You probably think the problem is strategy. Or offers. Or that you need a better email sequence, a clearer positioning statement, more consistent content.

Those things might actually need work. But that's not the problem.

The problem is that you're building your business on a premise that doesn’t value the life you are leading. It doesn’t value wanting to spend time dropping your kids off at school, or going to Farmer’s Market on Wednesday mornings. It demands sacrifice. That someday you'll get to do all of those things, but first you have to earn them. You don’t get to start there.

You've been handed the standard instructions — simplify, niche down, show up consistently, optimize for conversion — and somewhere in following them, the thing you were actually trying to build got smaller and flatter and more manageable and less like what you want your life to look and feel like.

That’s certainly what we’ve been sold. But I know we can do it differently.

The business you want to build — one that holds your whole life, that operates from your actual values, that promotes itself without extracting from either you or the people you're trying to reach — requires a different kind of thinking than what most business strategy offers.

And you probably haven't had a room where that kind of thinking is what's expected of you.

That's what the Luminous Studio is for.

What the Studio Is

The Luminous Studio is a four-month small-group business studio for up to twelve entrepreneurs who are done building a business at the expense of their lives — and ready to build one from the inside of them.

This is not coaching in the traditional sense. It's a thinking room. A place where the whole life comes with you — the complicated schedule, the values that don't fit on a content calendar, the business ideas that feel too real to flatten into a funnel.

But it's also a working room. We do real strategy here. Real marketing. Real decisions about offers, pricing, positioning, and how you show up in public without performing yourself into exhaustion.

Over four months together, you will:

âś“ Build a business structure that stops working against your actual rhythms and starts working from them

✓ Figure out what your offers need to be — not what the market says they should be

âś“ Develop ethical marketing practices that don't require you to manipulate, perform, or extract from your audience

✓ Write and think your way into positioning that is genuinely yours — not a cleaner version of someone else's lane

✓ Get weekly feedback on your real work — content, copy, offers, whatever you're actually writing — from someone who has run NYT bestseller marketing campaigns and knows how to make words do what they need to do

âś“ Stop making marketing decisions from fear and start making them from what you actually know to be true

âś“ Develop the tools to keep showing up without burning through yourself

âś“ Get clear on where you're going and why, in language you'd actually use with someone you trust

Twelve seats. Four months.

A room that changes how you think.

Early Bird Ends: September 1
Applications Close: September 15

How the Luminous Studio Works

  • The Studio meets on a schedule built around the group — we figure out together what days and times work for the people in the room, because a program that only works for people in one time zone isn't actually working. Expect a mix that makes it possible to show up.
  • Three coaching calls a month where we do real thinking about real problems. Two co-working sessions where we work alongside each other and bring the stuck places into the room at the end.
  • The rhythm matters. It's not a sprint. It's a sustained practice — four months long, small enough that you're known, structured enough that things actually get done.
  • Throughout the four months, guest facilitators bring specific expertise into the room at the moments the group needs it most. Mindset work. Writing. The particular kind of problem that benefits from a different set of eyes. What they bring is responsive to what the cohort is actually working on.
  • Every week, you can submit one piece of work for direct feedback from me. A draft, a sales page section, a social post, an email, an offer description — whatever you're actually building. I read it, I respond, I tell you what's working and what isn't and why. Over four months, that's up to sixteen pieces of work shaped by someone who has spent fifteen years figuring out how to make marketing honest and effective at the same time.

What's Inside

Three coaching calls each month — your thinking room.

Strategy, problems, the ideas that felt too complicated to hold alone. Where things get untangled and decisions actually get made.

Weekly  feedback — your work, read closely.

Submit one piece of work per week — content, copy, an offer, an email, whatever you're actually writing — and get direct, specific feedback from me. Up to sixteen pieces over the four months. This is where the thinking becomes the work.

Two co-working sessions each month — your consistency engine.

We work alongside each other in real time. Less accountability pressure, more actual accountability. Stuck places come into the room at the end, briefly and practically.

Guest facilitators — your expanded perspective.

Specific expertise brought in when the group needs it — mindset, writing, strategy from a different angle. Always responsive to what the cohort is actually working on.

Up to twelve participants — your people.

Small enough that you're not anonymous. Intimate enough that the room changes how you think.

Call recordings uploaded within 48 hours — your archive.

Miss a call, never miss the work.

Twelve seats. Four months.

A room that changes how you think.

You're Here Because

You're here because one or more of these is true.

You're doing well by most measures and you feel like a visitor in your own business. You built something that works. The marketing is fine, the revenue is okay, the strategy makes sense. But when you sit down to work, it doesn't feel like yours. There's a flatter, more palatable version of your actual thinking living on your website, and you know it.

You're tired of optimizing your life out of your work. You've watched yourself edit out the complicated parts — the grief, the ambivalence, the opinions you actually have — because you were taught that business requires a cleaner, simpler, more agreeable version of you. You're done with that.

You've been building for everyone else's timeline. The launch windows, the content calendars, the urgency cycle — you're in them, doing the things, and underneath it all there's a persistent sense that you've lost the thread of why you started.

You know the standard advice doesn't apply to you, and you don't have a room where that's the starting assumption. Most business strategy begins with the premise that you need to simplify, standardize, systematize. You need someone to start from where you actually are.

You want to learn ethical marketing that doesn't require you to manipulate anyone, including yourself. You've seen what extractive marketing does — to audiences, to practitioners, to the work itself. You want to know how to promote what you do in ways that are honest and effective at the same time.

Your business has a soul and you want to build it like it does. Not as metaphor. As operating premise.

The Three Types

Three kinds of people end up in the Luminous Studio. Most people are some combination of all of them.

You've been at this long enough to know what you're doing. You have clients, revenue, a track record.

But somewhere along the way, you started editing yourself to fit the business — your schedule, your voice, what you were willing to say publicly — until the business was sustainable and you were the one being squeezed.

You are done optimizing a model that was never built for the person running it. You're not looking for more tactics.

You're looking for a different frame, and people around you who are asking the same questions.

You have a real point of view — years of experience, a distinct way of seeing, ideas that are more interesting than anything you've managed to put into the world so far.

The gap between what you know and what you've built is the thing that keeps you up at night.

You are done waiting for the right moment, the right platform, the right level of readiness.

The ideas are ready. You need a room where they can finally become something.

You know that the sacred and the practical are not in conflict.

But you've been keeping your real opinions quiet and your spiritual life behind closed doors because you were taught that serious business requires a cleaner, more palatable version of you.

You are done keeping them separate.

You want the marketing and the mission to be made of the same material, and you want to stop apologizing for that.

No Matter Your Type

  • You are done sanitizing your real opinions for a "proven strategy."
  • You are done editing yourself for likability.
  • You are done performing a version of yourself that leaves you exhausted by 3 PM.
  • You don't want another 7-step marketing funnel.
  • You want a practice.
  • You want a business where your marketing and your mission are made of the exact same material.

Twelve seats. Four months.

A room that changes how you think.

Meet Carmen

I started my business in 2010 because I needed an income and I needed to be home. The conventional path — go back to an office, hand my schedule to someone else, build toward stability and figure out the rest later — wasn't going to work for the life I was actually living. So I figured it out.

Over the next fifteen years, I ran marketing strategy for serious operations — including two New York Times bestselling book campaigns — and developed a reputation for being the person who could see exactly what a business needed and make it happen. I understand positioning, ethical marketing, email strategy, social media, and the practical mechanics of how businesses actually grow. I know how to write copy that converts, how to build a launch that works, and how to help someone figure out what they're actually selling and to whom.

With every client I worked with, I started the same way: tell me about your life. Then we built the business to work for that life. That was never a soft approach — it was the most practical one I knew. A business built around a life you can't sustain falls apart eventually.

I have a half-acre property in rural Pennsylvania where I grow native plants and walk a labyrinth under pine trees and think about what it means to treat a business like a living system rather than an extraction machine. I take market days and garden days, and I travel every summer because some things are not negotiable.

When a dear friend was dying, he told me not to waste my life working. I had already spent fifteen years figuring out how not to. What his death clarified was that I needed to stop spending all of that knowledge building everyone else's thing and build a room where I could teach it directly.

The Luminous Studio is that room.

What You Will Walk Away With

Over four months in the Studio, we are getting into the dirt.

You will walk away with:

→ Why planning your next launch or content calendar might be keeping you trapped in survival mode, and the exact lens we will use to uncover the larger, living shape of what you are actually building.

→ How to stop solving your business problems in isolation, and the specific framework to weave your offers, positioning, and marketing together so they finally support the life you are trying to live.

→ The "proven" promotional habits that are secretly exhausting you and extracting from your audience — and the ethical mechanics you can use to write about what you do in language that is unmistakably yours.

→ The overlooked power of a "thinking room": what happens when you stop trying to untangle complex questions alone, and start wrestling with them alongside founders who refuse to let their businesses consume their lives.

→ The "endless research" trap that disguises itself as preparation, and the exact method we use to turn weeks of overthinking into the practical, undeniable experience of finally deciding.

→ How to stop building a business in opposition to your actual reality, and the step-by-step process of weaving an ecosystem from the inside of your life — one that holds your values, your rhythms, and the truth of who you are becoming.

→ Up to 16 pieces of your actual, living business (from sales pages to social posts) that we will physically shape together through direct feedback — so you stop hypothetically preparing in a vacuum and start hitting publish.

Questions

Still have questions? Email me: [email protected].

The most interesting businesses being built right now — the ones that last, the ones that attract genuinely right-fit people, the ones that don't require their founders to hollow themselves out — are being built by people who refused to sever themselves from their actual lives in the name of growth.

They kept the complicated parts in. They built from their formation, not away from it. They made decisions that cost something in the short term and paid out in something real over time. They learned to market honestly — to tell the truth about what they do and trust that the right people would recognize it.

That's not a nice idea. It's a strategy.

The Luminous Web is real. The question is whether you're building from it or alongside it, waiting to get back to it once the business is finally where it needs to be.

The Studio is where you build from it.

One Thing Before You Decide

I will not sell this to someone who doesn't actually need it, who would stretch themselves financially in a way that doesn't make sense, or who isn't ready to show up and think hard for four months.

If you can say yes to three things:

You need a room where serious thinking about your business — and your marketing, and your life — is the expectation, not the exception.

The investment won't put you in a difficult position.

You trust that I can help you think more clearly about what you're building.

Then come in.

Up to twelve spots. October 6 start.
Early bird pricing through September 1.
